How do DNU students learn the “code of conduct” in the classroom?

Each person's success is only 15% based on professional skills, the remaining 85% is based on communication relationships and behavioral talent. Although it seems simple, not everyone understands the code of conduct, especially young people. In order for students to develop comprehensively, have a good life after graduation and be good citizens, Dai Nam University thoroughly trains soft skills right from the first year and throughout the training process. As soon as entering the school, new students of K17 were introduced to and trained with the "code of conduct" built by the Faculty of Soft Skills Training and Development.
Cultural crisis of behavior in young people
Behavioral culture and greetings are actions that show respect, politeness, and temperament of each person; at the same time, they show family traditions and the way each family educates children. These are long-standing cultural features, showing the fine customs of the Vietnamese people.
However, the context of integration with many cultural flows entering Vietnam, along with changes in lifestyle, has caused behavioral culture, greeting culture, asking permission, queuing to be... forgotten and taken lightly. Greetings and love for family are gradually becoming absent. Many young people when going out or going to school do not know how to greet, thank, or apologize to teachers and friends; do not ask permission, cut in line anytime, anywhere...
The beautiful cultural behavior of Vietnamese people has been invisibly broken, causing damage to human personality. At the same time, young people are prejudiced: "Uncivilized, impolite", causing many disadvantages when applying for jobs and interviews. Despite having good knowledge and ability, they are still "failed" because of lack and weakness in skills and behavioral rules. Many candidates are eliminated right at the "parking lot" just because of poor behavior, forgetting to say hello and thank you when sending job application emails or answering phone calls from businesses.
Determined not to let students “dissolve” and lose opportunities due to lack of skills, Dai Nam University pays special attention to training soft skills for students. First of all, it is the skills of behavior, culture of greeting, thanking, apologizing, loving family and people around.
DNU students are trained in soft skills right from the first semester of their first year and throughout their studies.
What is the DNU student “Code of Conduct”?
The code of conduct is a content that has been mentioned many times by Ms. Cao Thi Hoa - Vice President of the School Board, Vice Principal in training programs to improve the capacity of school staff, lecturers and employees. Accordingly, teachers are role models for students. Only teachers who "absorb" the code of conduct can convey and educate students.
The school board assigned the Department of Soft Skills Training and Development to develop a "code of conduct" and teach it to students as soon as they enter the school.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy - Head of the Department of Training and Soft Skills Development said: "The Code of Conduct" taught at Dai Nam University is not about great or lofty knowledge. On the contrary, it is very close and real, from greetings, language, to the way of behaving and loving the people around.
The "Code of Conduct" of Dai Nam University is first formed by the 5X principle: Hello, Sorry, Thank you, Excuse me, Queue.
Greetings are the most basic lessons from childhood that our grandparents and parents often teach us. “A greeting is more important than a feast” not only shows politeness, but also shows friendliness, sociability, and readiness to integrate, helping Newbies K17 expand their relationships with teachers, friends, and siblings...
A sincere apology always helps resolve any problems in a relationship. Be brave enough to apologize and follow through on your commitments to build trust and maintain a lasting relationship.
Thank you is very valuable in life, it shows sympathy and understanding for good actions of people towards people in society. Be bold to say thank you as soon as you receive compliments, help or simply from receiving a useful contribution from teachers, friends, janitors, security guards.
The request for permission shows the respect and politeness of students towards teachers in the school. Students need to use the request for permission anywhere, from the university lecture hall to daily life. Therefore, it can be said that for students of Dai Nam University, the criterion of Attitude over qualifications is always remembered and practiced by heart.
Queuing is a typical culture of the school. Walking on campus, it is not difficult to see images of students seriously following the rules and lining up neatly like in the parking lot or elevator.
Queuing culture is promoted by DNUERS in all circumstances.
Lesson 2 is the 5Y principle: Love yourself – Love your family – Love your teammates – Love your country – Love life.
Self-love is a term that refers to the act of loving yourself not only physically but also mentally. It is not selfishness, it is an act of kindness towards others. Self-love includes 4 aspects: self-awareness, self-worth, self-esteem and self-care.
Family affection is the most precious gift that each of us has. First of all, family is parents, grandparents, siblings, relatives. They are the ones who love you with the most sacred, sincere affection that society out there cannot bring. Don't forget to send greetings and love messages to your family because of the joys, worries in society, and social relationships.
Teammates are those who accompany us on the journey of learning, building and developing our future careers. Solidarity and love are formed between people who, although not from the same hometown, different in customs, regions, but share the same ideals, goals, and perform the same tasks. Therefore, "new recruits" need to consider each other as blood relatives, sharing with each other the dangers and hardships.
Patriotism is the love and respect deeply engraved in the heart for the homeland and country, and it is a noble quality of every person. Patriotism is shown in the act of being ready to stand up to help the country in times of danger, it is a sacred feeling that people have for their country.
Loving life is being optimistic, always looking towards a bright future. People who always love life are always happy, believe in life and find passion in any activity from studying to playing, entertaining, working...
Mature students and highly valued by businesses
Mai Chi, a new student of the Faculty of Tourism, shared: “Before, I only greeted people I knew and my teachers. After learning the code of conduct, I changed completely. I greet everyone, from the security guard, the saleswoman, the teachers, my friends… everyone is happy and gives me a friendly smile. I feel that my life has become more positive, meaningful and full of love.”
Students are happier and more mature every day when they are trained in skills and codes of conduct.
Ha Tung - a student of K17, Faculty of Automotive Engineering Technology, said: "The Code of Conduct" has helped me become more mature, have a more gentle and positive attitude; know how to love, respect and share with people around me. That is why people love and help me more in my studies, work and life. I feel lucky to study in a dynamic, modern environment that cares and trains students from the smallest things."
Cam Nhung - K17 student of Pharmacy Faculty expressed: "Soft Skills lessons have helped me appreciate family affection more; know how to say thank you, apologize and love to my parents - something I have never done before".
DNUERS express love to family and relatives anytime, anywhere.
As one of the people who regularly connects and works with business representatives, Ms. Pham Thi Dung - Deputy Director of the Student Employment and Entrepreneurship Center said: "Many businesses responded that they were very impressed with the skills of DNU students. In all circumstances, they follow the culture of queuing, always bowing to everyone, including strangers or students. That is something that businesses appreciate and are always ready to accept DNU students for internships and recruitment."
