Opportunities to promote educational cooperation between Vietnam and African and Middle Eastern countries
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Dr. Le Dac Son briefly introduced the formation, development and strategic goals of Dai Nam University until 2025, with a vision to 2030. Accordingly, Dr. Le Dac Son especially emphasized the importance of building a practical, modern, diverse, flexible and well-connected training ecosystem, considering this a vital task that determines the quality of training and creates a difference and competitive advantage for students. He also expressed his belief that the strategic cooperation between DNU and IAMES, VAECA, NVCCI, and NFTA will not only help enhance the position of Dai Nam University in the rankings of leading universities in Vietnam and the region, but also contribute to promoting the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Nigeria in particular and African countries in general.
In recent years, the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and African countries has been constantly expanded and developed, especially in the field of economic cooperation. Two-way trade turnover between Vietnam and Africa in 2019 reached 2.7 billion USD. Many Vietnamese companies and enterprises have been investing and doing business in the African market such as: Viettel; Hapro, T&T... However, it is still at a modest level, the room for cooperation between Vietnam and Africa is still large and has not been fully exploited. One of the obstacles to trade and investment cooperation is the lack of trained human resources with expertise, understanding of culture, law, organizational and management models... and because there are too few African students studying in Vietnam, and vice versa, there are very few Vietnamese students studying at universities in African countries.
In order to contribute to promoting cooperation between Vietnam and African countries, IAMES and VAECA in coordination with DNU signed a tripartite Cooperation Agreement (MoU). It is known that IAMES is the only scientific research institution specializing in Africa - Middle East, established in 2004. VAECA was newly established in 2021 with founding members such as: IAMES, Vietnam Academy of Agricultural Sciences (VAAS), and 06 private companies with the mission of connecting Vietnamese enterprises with African enterprises, building Vietnam's economic potential in Africa for the development and prosperity of both sides.
Dai Nam University (DNU) is a university with 15 years of establishment and development, currently becoming a training address highly trusted by society for its training quality "learning closely linked to practical life", in the main fields such as: Health; Economics; Engineering - Technology; Social Sciences - Humanities and Foreign Languages.
The signing of this tripartite MoU opens up opportunities to promote cooperation between Vietnam and African and Middle Eastern countries, especially in the field of educational cooperation, which is considered the key to opening other doors of cooperation firmly from the beginning.
DNU offers its own Bachelor of International Business and other mutually suitable majors for students from Nigeria and West African countries.
Dai Nam University signed online cooperation with relevant parties.
Immediately after the signing ceremony of the tripartite agreement (MoU), IAMES, VAECA, DNU signed an online cooperation agreement (MoA) with NVCCI and NFTA on DNU training bachelors in International Business for students from Nigeria and West African countries in Vietnam; providing short-term training courses on International Business for officials and enterprises of NVCCI and NFTA in Vietnam or in Nigeria; coordinating with IAMES, VEACA to seek funding sources, internships, and jobs for Nigerian students to study in Vietnam.
The cooperation between these parties not only helps export Vietnam's education to Nigeria in particular and West African and African countries in general, but also enhances the position of Dai Nam University in the rankings of leading universities in Vietnam and the region, contributing to promoting the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Nigeria in particular and African countries in general.
