After finishing the first component exam in the national high school exam, candidates must remain seated and wait for the next component exam.
The 2018 National High School Exam includes a combined exam of Natural Sciences (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) and Social Sciences (Geography, History, Civic Education). According to the regulations, candidates who have registered for a combined exam must take all the components of that combined exam. Failure to take the exam will be considered as dropping out of the exam, and candidates will not be considered for graduation recognition.
Independent candidates who are allowed to reserve their 2017 exam results can choose the component subjects of the combined exam for graduation consideration. For example, candidates who reserve Physics will only need to register for Chemistry and Biology of the Natural Science combination exam for graduation consideration.
National High School Exam Schedule 2018
Thus, in the same combined exam session, some candidates will take all three subjects, some will take only one subject, and some will take two subjects consecutively or not consecutively. To avoid confusion, the Ministry of Education and Training has just issued a document providing detailed instructions on the combined exam process for invigilators and candidates in the exam room.

National High School Exam Schedule 2018
Candidates will take the component subjects of the combined exam according to the exam schedule on the same multiple-choice answer sheet. The exam supervisor will collect the multiple-choice answer sheet only after the time for the final component subject of the combined exam has expired.

The component subjects in each combined test have the same test code. Candidates write this test code on the multiple-choice answer sheet for tracking. In case the component subjects have different test codes, candidates must immediately notify the invigilator within 10 minutes of receiving the test, for timely handling.

Candidates taking two consecutive component exams (including Continuing Education candidates taking the Social Science exam): The invigilator and candidates must be present in the examination room at least 15 minutes before the exam paper distribution time to prepare. Immediately after the end of the exam time for the first component exam, candidates must stop writing, the invigilator collects the exam paper and scratch paper. Then the invigilator distributes the exam paper for the next component exam and new scratch paper according to the exam schedule. When the end of the exam time for the second component exam, the invigilator collects the exam paper and scratch paper from candidates (except for Biology and Civic Education) and allows candidates to leave under the guidance of the invigilator.

Candidates taking two non-consecutive subjects: The invigilator and the candidate must be present in the examination room at least 15 minutes before the test is distributed to prepare. Immediately after the end of the first subject, the candidate must stop writing, hand in the test and scratch paper to the invigilator. The candidate must remain seated, maintain order, face down on the multiple-choice answer sheet and keep it safe while waiting for the next subject.

In special cases, candidates must have permission from the invigilator to leave the examination room. Candidates must submit their answer sheets to the invigilator and leave the examination room under the guidance of the invigilator.

Candidates taking only one subject: The invigilator and candidates must be present in the examination room at least 15 minutes before the test is distributed to prepare. Immediately after the test is over, the invigilator collects the multiple-choice answer sheets, test papers and scratch paper from the candidates (except for Biology and Civic Education). Candidates may then leave under the guidance of the invigilator.

Independent candidates may not take all the components of the combined exam, so according to the regulations, the exam sites will arrange separate exam rooms for these candidates.
