Before we study any subject of knowledge or technique, we must first define what that knowledge or technique is. The same is true in scientific research.

What is the nature of research?

Before we study any subject of knowledge or technique, we must first define what that knowledge or technique is. The same is true in scientific research. Here I give the following definition: "Research" is the ability to actively learn and explore problems. In English, people often say: "Actively making meaning, rather than just absorbing information". It can be extended to two meanings: First, to study better, you will have to actively seek out creative learning methods for yourself. Second, research is not simply about receiving information, but the nature of research is that when you face any new thing or new course, you have an overview, you can find a way, and quickly catch up with it.

Professional activities of teachers of the Faculty of Business Administration.

In the new context of current socio-economic development, the new generation of talents need to have "interdisciplinary" abilities. A person with interdisciplinary abilities will often have research abilities. And this ability allows you to quickly adapt to changes in life or the workplace and thereby gain new opportunities.

What is the difference between research and study?

Learning is mainly based on imitation and repetition. The way we work is through repeated practice, and the ultimate goal of practice is to achieve perfection as the object of study. But study is to surpass it and do better. Therefore, we can distinguish the two as follows:

    1. Learning: There are three main characteristics: practice, imitation, and repetition.
    2. Research: It does not have the characteristics of studying. It is like an art and it requires you to choose a path that has not been trodden by humans. For example, a student's daily job is to study, but a researcher's job is to research. An athlete's daily job is to practice, but a coach's job is to research the team's formation. An employee's daily job is to do the assigned tasks well, but a manager's job is to research, such as market research, customer research, etc.

Three types of awareness to do good research

Thus, to practice research ability, three types of consciousness are needed: 1. Consciousness of work; 2. Consciousness of goal; 3. Objective consciousness.

Scientific research is a tradition of the faculty of Business Administration.

First of all, about the work consciousness, you must have a strong consciousness, then you can do everything well. And the work consciousness is specifically expressed in the performance of assigned tasks, in the work to be done. For example, most people cook just to fill their stomachs, but professional chefs prepare dishes, and treat each dish as their own work. However, you should not think of the work as too grand and think that it is difficult to achieve, you can only focus on one or two details. You do not necessarily have to build a magnificent building, but can just make an interior door handle, and how to increase the grip feeling by changing the material and style of the handle.

Second, we must maintain a "sense of purpose" during the research process, this is to help us avoid "going off topic" or going in the wrong direction, just like many people will search for information via Google but they accidentally skim knowledge from one item to another, forgetting what they wanted in the first place.

Finally, learn to look at your research objectives with the objective sense of an outsider, avoiding the tendency to be overly subjective and one-sided in the parts that you are only interested in. An example is illustrated in Figure 1.

    Data collection method

Research in English means research, and you will find that part of it is search, which means "to search". One of the reasons why many people cannot do research well is probably because they cannot "search". To do a good job of searching, you must follow two principles: "just enough" and "just right". Just enough means that the collected data must be enough to clarify the problem. Just right is because human time and energy are limited, if you want to do a good job of research, you must know how to focus on finding the necessary information, and limit the extraneous information. Or in other words, we must know how to search "just right" on the basis of having "enough" of the necessary data.
