New students of K17, Faculty of Medicine, Dai Nam University receive "huge" scholarships

On September 16, the Faculty of Medicine solemnly held the "2022-2023 School Year Closing Ceremony and Welcome to K17 New Students". At the program, medical students were committed to job introduction by the Vietnam Private Hospital Association, and K17 new students were awarded an entrance scholarship worth 15 million VND/student.

Attending the program, on behalf of Dai Nam University, there were: Dr. Le Dac Son - Chairman of the University Council; Ms. Cao Thi Hoa - Vice Chairman of the University Council; Board of Directors; Associate Professor, Dr., Associate Professor Hoang Duc Hanh - Dean of the Faculty of Medicine; Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Trung Kien - Assistant to the Chairman of the University Council in charge of training in the Faculty of Medicine; along with all staff, lecturers, students and representatives of parents of all courses of the Faculty of Medicine.

In particular, on the guest side, there were: Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van De - Member of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Chairman of the Vietnam Private Hospital Association; Dr. Nguyen Van Thang - Deputy Director of Ha Dong General Hospital; Dr. Hoang Thi Yen - Chief of Office of the Vietnam Private Hospital Association; MSc. Le Van Lam - Vice Principal of Hop Luc College of Medicine and Pharmacy.

The school's leadership, distinguished guests, parents and students solemnly performed the flag-saluting ceremony.

05 differences in medical training only available at Dai Nam University

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Le Dac Son expressed his deep gratitude to the teachers - the most excellent cadres of the health sector who have "joined forces" at Dai Nam University; together with the University, they have built the foundation, gradually affirming the prestige and brand of the Faculty of Medicine of Dai Nam University. At the same time, he thanked the parents and students who have trusted and chosen to entrust their aspirations for the medical profession - a noble profession to Dai Nam University.

“Medicine is a major in the core training axis of Health of Dai Nam University; it is especially focused on and developed by the University Council and Board of Directors. The focus here is not for the benefit of the school but to train excellent doctors who are devoted to the cause of saving people”, Dr. Le Dac Son emphasized.

Dr. Le Dac Son advised medical students: "Once you commit to studying medicine, you must become a doctor."

With the educational viewpoint: "Anything that is harmful to the student, no matter how small, must not be done; whatever is best for the student, must be done with all our heart and soul" , Dr. Le Dac Son affirmed: Dai Nam University will do its best to help students develop comprehensively, with deep medical theory - rich medical ethics - good medical skills; confidently affirm their abilities and compete with medical students from public schools.

Accordingly, medical students "enjoy" 05 training differences only available at Dai Nam University:

Firstly, the school invests a large amount of money (4 times more than other majors) to train English for medical students; ensuring that they meet the working standards of domestic and international hospitals.

Second, equip students with awareness, attitude, will, and determination through training programs in Soft Skills, National Defense - Security, extracurricular activities, etc.

Associate Professor, Doctor, Associate Professor Hoang Duc Hanh congratulated and welcomed the new students of K17 to officially join the Faculty of Medicine of Dai Nam University. He affirmed that all of them are the quintessence of Dai Nam University.

Associate Professor, Doctor, Associate Professor Hoang Duc Hanh affirmed: With the support of the School, businesses, hospitals; the companionship of parents; the efforts of teachers and students, the Faculty of Medicine will certainly develop more and more and train generations of doctors with good medical skills and good medical ethics.

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Trung Kien emphasized: “With 40 years of experience in training at both public and private schools, and having been Vice Principal of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy – VNU, I can affirm that: There is no university that trains and manages teachers and students as tightly as Dai Nam University.

Lecturers must strictly follow the rules and regulations, arrive late, leave early, miss lectures, etc. and must explain. At the end of each semester, students are evaluated by lecturers. The work of the head teacher is evaluated and classified by students and the school each semester. Whether an Associate Professor, PhD or a permanent or guest lecturer, they must be well prepared and ready for the faculty and school leaders to observe lectures at any time.

Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Trung Kien affirmed: “Medical students of Dai Nam University are not inferior to students of other medical training institutions in Vietnam. There is no need to be self-conscious about their scores because the medical profession does not require too much intelligence, but most importantly, diligence, compassion, altruism, and love for people. Although not in the Top 28-30, students can still become good doctors if they possess all of the above factors as well as have the strong support of the Faculty and the School”.

In fact, in the 2022-2023 school year, the Faculty of Medicine of Dai Nam University has made many breakthroughs: The rate of Excellent students in the whole course reached 14%, Good students reached 40%; scientific research students had 01 First Prize, 02 Second Prizes, 02 Third Prizes, 01 Encouragement Prize; 29 students were awarded scholarships by the School; 14 students were awarded by the School Youth Union. In particular, the Faculty of Medicine Youth Union was awarded a certificate of merit by the Hanoi Youth Union for "Achievements in positive contributions to the 2023 Green Summer Program".

Dr. Le Thi Thanh Huong - Vice Principal and Associate Professor, Dr., Senior Lecturer Hoang Duc Hanh - Dean of the Faculty of Medicine awarded scholarships to students with high academic achievements in the 2022-2023 school year.

Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Van Hong - Principal and Dr. Le Thi Thanh Huong awarded prizes to students with high achievements in scientific research in the 2022 - 2023 school year.

Ms. Cao Thi Hoa and Mr. Pham Trung Kien awarded certificates of merit to outstanding students in the youth movement in the 2022-2023 school year.
