In particular, focusing on improving the quality of lecturers' lectures to create interest, understanding and passion for students. In addition, lecturers need to have classroom management skills; have methods of testing and evaluating students accurately and fairly, knowing the strengths and weaknesses of students, thereby adjusting lectures and teaching methods so that students can access knowledge in the most effective way.
At the workshop, the presentations all pointed out that, due to the nature of the profession, the approach, communication and training of the lecturer must be based on the learners' abilities.
In particular, the Faculty of Tourism has successfully applied matrix teaching methods to significantly improve the quality of training in the courses.
Specifically, for the course in the Hospitality and Tourism Management subject group, the lecturer uses flexible student-centered teaching methods according to the students' abilities. The methods applied in a lecture include: IM (Indirect Teaching), LE (Experiential Learning), MWG (Teaching by Group Work Method), ITM (Integrated Teaching Method).
According to the lecturers, the integrated teaching method is very suitable for the teaching requirements to approach the learners' capacity. When applying this teaching method, the lecturer will combine active teaching methods to convey knowledge to students, then guide students to form skills through modeling and practice activities, and then correct students' errors.
After each integrated lecture, students will develop at least one professional competency in practical work in job positions in Hotels or Travel companies.
In addition, lecturers also create excitement for students through real-life situations, games, and inspirational career stories that help foster love for the profession...
At the end of each course, students are assessed in the form of a Competency Assessment exam for knowledge, skills, and attitudes according to the output standards of each course's competencies corresponding to job positions in the actual Tourism profession.
The integrated method accurately classifies students' abilities from the learning process to the assessment test, giving very consistent results. The rate of weak students is also significantly reduced due to the parallel learning of theory and practice.
Not only stopping at academic results, Attitude factors such as: strictly following regulations on time, professional dress, professional behavior... are also formed and become professional characteristics for students of the Faculty of Tourism, Dai Nam University and are highly appreciated by Enterprises when they come to do internships.
In addition to the benefits for students, the integrated teaching method also helps lecturers think and continuously improve their practical knowledge to have a deep and broad knowledge base to meet the increasingly high demands of today's teaching.
