These suggestions are based on the observations and experiences of Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhien - Lecturer of English Language Department, Dai Nam University during her teaching process as well as consulting the opinions of some experts in the field of education, lecturers and students in the school.

Expand your vocabulary knowledge

During communication, listeners pay more attention to the content than to grammar and sentence structure. Therefore, vocabulary is the tool that helps us convey our ideas clearly and accurately. The richer and more abundant your vocabulary is, the more effective your communication will be.

New students can expand their vocabulary in many ways such as listening to postcards, watching short videos in English; learning vocabulary in textbooks to use correctly in appropriate situations. When their foreign language level reaches a new level, newbies can expand their vocabulary by reading English newspapers. Remember, the internet is a huge source of learning materials, helping us easily search and memorize vocabulary effectively.

Listen anytime, anywhere

Smart English learners always start with listening. Every day, spend time listening to English; listen anytime, anywhere, whenever you have free time.

Start with short listening passages, on topics that interest you such as family, beauty, sports, travel, etc. At first, you may not understand all the content. But don’t give up. Adjust the speed and listen over and over again until you understand the entire content of the listening passage.

Don’t forget to write down new words, sentences, and phrases that you find interesting in a separate notebook. Practice the vocabulary you’ve learned in real-life situations, and you’ll find yourself not only remembering the words naturally, but also using them correctly in specific situations.

There is a great saying that “Practice makes perfect”. Therefore, be proactive in finding the right learning method to conquer and “master” English easily.

New students should practice foreign languages by creating their own English products. For example, you can create your own portfolio to evaluate your daily learning results, using it as motivation to strive. To easily remember, you can create mind maps by topic and vocabulary field. In addition, you can come up with ideas and "role-play" in case studies to practice speaking and writing naturally and effectively.
