The benchmark for the Health sector is sky-high, what opportunities are there for candidates?

With the benchmark score being in the top with its own specific profession, the health sector (Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing) attracts a large number of applications from excellent candidates every year. The question is, with the benchmark score for the health sector being so high, what are the chances for candidates with 19 - 22 points?
High competition ratio, high benchmark
The health sector always has a high competition rate and high standard score. Among them, majors such as general medicine and dentistry are at "sky-high" levels. Many candidates, even though they score 28 or 29 points, may fail if they do not know how to choose and arrange their wishes appropriately. Pharmacy and Nursing are lower but must still score from 25 to 27 points to be admitted.
To be admitted to the Health sector, candidates must have outstanding academic ability.
Explaining the reason for the high benchmark scores for the health sector, Associate Professor, PhD, Associate Professor Hoang Duc Hanh - Head of the Faculty of Medicine at Dai Nam University, former Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Health said: “The health sector has a small quota but the number of candidates registering every year is large, especially gathering all good and excellent candidates. In addition, the Ministry of Education and Training also has a threshold to ensure the quality of input for the health sector, one of the prerequisites is that candidates must have a good grade 12 academic performance, good graduation score (fair or higher for Nursing). Therefore, to have a chance to be admitted to this sector, first of all, students must have outstanding learning ability…”

To study health, is it necessary to be in the top "other people's children"?
However, Associate Professor, Dr., Associate Professor Hoang Duc Hanh also affirmed that to study health, candidates do not need to be in the top 28-30 points. Candidates who score 22 points are fully qualified to study Medicine, 21 points are qualified to study Pharmacy, 19 points are qualified to study Nursing if the candidate possesses the qualities and qualities required of a doctor, pharmacist, nurse, etc.
However, candidates do not need to be in the top 28-30 points.
Sharing the same opinion, Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Trung Kien - Vice Principal of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy - VNU said: The health sector in general and the medical sector in particular have highly specialized expertise, intelligence is only a "necessary" condition. Candidates who want to pursue this career field need to have other important qualities such as: Thinking ability and diligence; perseverance, patience, hard work, and endurance; quickness, precision in every movement; honesty; a kind heart; courage... Not to mention the working environment in hospitals and medical facilities has a lot of pressure and hardship, candidates who want to choose these majors need to have good health and physical condition to be able to be on duty, work all night, and come into contact with blood without... fainting.
"Studying well is not enough, you must have the right qualities to do the job of "a good doctor like a mother". Therefore, it is not necessary to be in the top 28 - 30 points, 22 points is completely enough to study well in General Medicine and become a good doctor..." Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Trung Kien affirmed.
And not outside the above viewpoint, in the past 4 years, the Ministry of Education and Training has always determined the threshold to ensure the quality of input for the Health Sector with a score ranging from 19 to 22. Specifically: Medicine is 22 points, Pharmacy is 21 points and Nursing is 19 points.

What are the chances for candidates with 19 - 22 points?
22 points are fully qualified to study Medicine, 21 points are qualified to study Pharmacy, 19 points are qualified to study Nursing.
Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Trung Kien advised: If candidates love general medicine, they can put that major as their first choice. However, they should not risk considering only one choice but should register for lower choices. For example, choice 1 is general medicine at a top school (Hanoi Medical University, University of Medicine and Pharmacy - VNU, Hanoi...), then choice 2 is still general medicine but at a school with a lower standard score but still ensures equal training quality and has additional competitive advantages such as Dai Nam University (competitive advantages in English, soft skills, positive attitude...). The next choices can be Pharmacy, Nursing, laboratory technology...
