The Faculty of Tourism promotes scientific research activities and compiles documents to serve learning and teaching.

Implementing 5 core values in the pioneering model of training high-quality human resources in the domestic and international tourism and travel industry, linking training with the output standards of enterprises, the Faculty of Tourism of Dai Nam University pays special attention to building and developing training programs, training models, changing training methods, scientific research, compiling documents for learning and teaching. In addition to the factors that have affirmed their uniqueness such as programs, models, and methods, the Faculty of Tourism has successfully implemented many scientific research topics and compiled specialized textbooks.
To realize the above goal, recently, the Faculty Council of Tourism, chaired by Dr. Hoang Tran Dong, held a meeting to accept the lecture series Vietnamese Traditional Customs and Festivals compiled by lecturer Bui Van Nien.
The Faculty Council met to accept the lecture notes of Mr. Bui Van Nien.
At the acceptance meeting, Mr. Bui Van Nien presented a brief report on the necessity, content and significance of the learning document. Mr. Nien shared: “The Faculty of Tourism - Dai Nam University determines the training goal in the direction of application, students after graduation must be able to work, meeting the needs of businesses. Therefore, to serve that goal, lecturers must also teach, provide students with knowledge related to reality and other related knowledge to solve jobs related to the tourism industry after graduation. However, most of the existing textbooks and learning documents are being compiled in a theoretical approach. This causes the training goals and the document sets to have a certain “gap”. Given that reality, I have compiled the Lecture Set of Vietnamese Traditional Customs and Festivals to serve the specific training goals and programs of the Faculty of Tourism”.
Mr. Bui Van Nien reported to the Faculty of Tourism Council.
According to Mr. Bui Van Nien's report, the lecture series Vietnamese Traditional Customs and Festivals is divided into two parts: academic theory and applied theory.
Accordingly, in the academic theory part, the author has included fundamental theoretical knowledge such as concepts, classifications, and the role of customs and practices... to create a foundation and basis for discussing and solving problems and situations in reality. At the same time, these are also systematic knowledge contents that can serve as a basis for studying cultural issues in general, and customs and traditional festivals in particular for students who are passionate about in-depth research.
In the applied theory part, the author focused on compiling and introducing Vietnamese traditional customs and festivals according to cultural space, from North to South, including: Northwest cultural region, Viet Bac cultural region, Northern Delta cultural region, Central cultural region, Central Highlands cultural region, Southern cultural region. This amount of knowledge is expected to provide tourism students with a comprehensive view of traditional customs and festivals in Vietnam, thereby directly serving the profession in the future.
After listening to the report of Mr. Bui Van Nien, the majority of the members of the Faculty Council expressed their agreement with the author's goals and ideas. At the same time, the members of the Faculty Council also made practical contributions to help the author complete the best learning material.
Dr. Bui Dai Dung - Lecturer at the University of Economics - Vietnam National University, Hanoi commented: "The document has a scientific and tight structure, clarifying the theoretical basis of traditional customs and festivals. Along with that, the author has raised practical issues to help students have the opportunity to "practice" the theoretical issues they have learned before. This will help students approach knowledge proactively and easily apply that knowledge into practice, especially in the tourism industry".

Based on the comments of the Council members, Dr. Hoang Tran Dong - Chairman of the Faculty Council concluded: "The lecture series clearly demonstrates the author's viewpoint and good research capacity. The content of the lecture series is suitable for the specific nature and training program of the Faculty of Tourism - Dai Nam University and is in line with the tourism training trend in the world. With such qualities and thinking, along with the facilitation and encouragement of the Faculty leaders, we also believe and hope that this lecture series will soon be compiled into an official textbook to serve the applied training goals of the Faculty of Tourism".
Dr. Hoang Tran Dong shared with teachers about research methods in developed countries after the acceptance session.
At the end of the acceptance session, the members of the Tourism Faculty Council unanimously approved the lecture series on Vietnamese Traditional Customs and Festivals with a 100% approval rate. This result is once again a valid proof of the wisdom and pioneering spirit of the Tourism Faculty Leaders in promoting the training activities of the Faculty in general and promoting scientific research activities and compiling teaching materials in particular.
