I. GENERAL INTRODUCTION

The Department of Chinese Language and Culture (CLC) has a history of 15 years. Since its establishment, along with the ups and downs of history, generations of teachers and students of the Department have overcome all difficulties and challenges, always maintaining and promoting the fine traditions of a leading Chinese language training and research institution in the country.

The Faculty of Chinese Language and Culture currently has 24 permanent lecturers, including 6 PhDs, 18 Masters and many native lecturers. The faculty's teaching staff are well-trained at prestigious universities and research institutes in the country and internationally.

The Faculty of Chinese Language and Culture (CHL) is closely associated with the formation and development of Dai Nam University.

Regarding scientific research, the Faculty has successfully organized many international and school-level seminars on teaching and researching Chinese. The Faculty is proud and honored to welcome many of the world's leading Chinese researchers to teach, exchange and conduct academic exchanges. Every year, the Faculty's teaching staff publishes many valuable scientific research works such as scientific research topics, monographs, reference books, and articles in prestigious domestic and foreign journals.

Regarding cooperation and development, the Faculty has cooperated in training and research with many international universities such as: Shenyang Aerospace University of China, Guangxi Normal University of China, East China Normal University of China, Jianguo University of Technology, Taiwan Wenzao University of Foreign Languages, etc.

In the current period of integration and internationalization, the Faculty of Chinese Language and Culture is expanding cooperation in all fields, constantly improving the quality of training and research, and affirming the prestige and position of the Faculty domestically and internationally.

Students of the Department of Chinese Language and Culture DNU often have internships and practical training during their studies at the school.

II. TRAINING PROGRAM

- Training time: 04 years

- Language of instruction: Chinese

- Major 1: Translation and Interpretation: 131 credits

- Major 2: Chinese for Commerce and Tourism: 131 credits

- Bachelor's degree in Chinese Language from a regular university (Majoring in Translation and Interpretation or Commercial Chinese - Tourism)

- Books, Training materials: All books and training materials are carefully selected and censored before being put into teaching and published by famous publishers such as Beijing Language University Publishing House, Beijing University Publishing House, Beijing Nationalities University Publishing House, Shanghai University Publishing House, East China Normal University Publishing House, Wuhan University Publishing House, Foreign Language Teaching and Research Publishing House, Hanoi National University Publishing House... Names of typical materials such as: Chinese Textbook (Editor-in-Chief Duong Ky Chau), Chinese Listening Textbook (Editor-in-Chief Duong Tuyet Mai - Ho Ba), Chinese Speaking Course (Editor-in-Chief Ma Tien Phi), Bridge (Editor-in-Chief Tran Chuoc), Chinese Writing Course - Advanced (Editor-in-Chief Kim Thu Nien), Chinese Reading Comprehension Course (Editor-in-Chief Tran Dien Thuan), News Listening Course (Editor-in-Chief Luu Si Can), Chinese Newspaper Reading Course (Editor-in-Chief Ngo Ta Dieu), Chinese Phonetics Course (Editor-in-Chief Cao Van), Chinese Grammar Textbook (Editor-in-Chief Ton Duc Kim)....

III. TEACHING STAFF

  • 24 full-time lecturers (including 06 PhDs, 18 Masters) along with many native lecturers to meet the teaching needs of the Faculty and to improve the quality of teaching hours for students;
  • Enthusiastic teaching staff with advanced teaching methods, trained and studied at prestigious universities at home and abroad (China, Taiwan);
  • The lecturers of the Faculty are all dedicated, passionate, enthusiastic and united, always helping and coordinating with each other in assigning and performing tasks. Always perfecting, innovating and improving the quality of teaching according to the new thinking "Taking the learner as the center" - an active teaching method to meet the learning needs of foreign language students and improve the effectiveness and quality of learning.

The faculty's staff and lecturers are all dedicated, passionate, enthusiastic and united, always helping and coordinating with each other in assigning and performing tasks.

IV. STUDENTS OF THE FACULTY

The Faculty of Chinese Language and Culture currently has nearly 1,000 students. Students enthusiastically participate in extracurricular activities and win many awards in competitions such as: "Chinese Language Festival", "Chinese Dubbing Competition", "Chinese Singing Competition", "Chinese Bridge"... The competitions have attracted a large number of students to participate, creating excitement and passion for Chinese language and culture.

The Faculty regularly organizes supplementary and advanced classes with the participation and advice of lecturers and foreign experts with high professional qualifications. These activities all bring useful and interesting experiences to students.

DNU Chinese Club is led by enthusiastic teachers. This is a dynamic and extremely useful playground for students who love Chinese and are passionate about learning about Chinese culture.

The Faculty always focuses on activities that attract the attention and enthusiastic participation of students throughout the school, such as the activities of the Youth Union, extracurricular activities organized by the school such as "The Cake of Love", "Dai Nam Red Drop", "The 15th Icon Online Photo Contest", "DNU on TikTok Contest". Students of the Chinese Faculty are considered to be one of the most active students in the school's youth union activities. Students regularly participate in the union activities of the Faculty and the School, are trained and improve their life skills, soft skills, and communication skills.

IV. SCHOLARSHIPS - TRANSFER STUDY IN CHINA

- Students have many opportunities to receive:

+ Full or partial scholarships from Dai Nam University for excellent students; tuition exemption for policy students;

+ Scholarships for study encouragement from domestic and foreign agencies and organizations;

+ Scholarships for short-term courses, bachelor's and master's degrees from the Chinese government and the Taiwan Chamber of Commerce at prestigious universities;

- The Faculty cooperates with many prestigious universities in China to exchange teachers and students, find scholarships, organize international scientific conferences, compile textbooks and programs;

VI. JOBS

Group 1

- Translator/Interpreter/Editor: able to work independently as a translator translating written documents or an interpreter for regular bilateral meetings, editor for media agencies, meeting the needs of international communication at agencies, businesses, state or private organizations, in the economic and social fields.

Group 2

- Office Secretary/Foreign Affairs Assistant/Tour Guide: able to work in offices of foreign companies, joint venture companies or Vietnamese companies, in charge of work related to foreign affairs, cooperation, business, import and export, tourism with foreign partners, participating in negotiations, transactions, signing business contracts, monitoring related contracts, planning, programs to welcome international guests, organizing tours, handling work related to speaking and writing skills in Chinese.

Group 3

- Lecturer/Researcher: study additional master's or doctoral programs to become lecturers at universities (after receiving training in pedagogy) or research Chinese Language at research institutes.

VII. TRAINING ROADMAP

Year 1:

  • Taught by top Vietnamese lecturers.
  • Fully trained in listening, speaking, reading and writing skills.
  • Trained with standard curriculum that has passed rigorous testing.
  • Participate in extracurricular Chinese Clubs.
  • Basic training in necessary knowledge: information technology, soft skills, Vietnamese language practice.
  • After 1 year of study, learners have basic knowledge of Chinese, helping learners to communicate with native speakers at level 3-4 (according to the 6-level foreign language competency framework for Vietnam). The topics and themes learned are close to life, study, entertainment and have the ability to develop the ability to express thoughts and evaluate people, things, and events around them... In addition, learners also have soft skills such as: Communication, presentation, teamwork, organizational capacity, implementation and independent problem solving in a scientific way.

Second year:

  • Taught by top Vietnamese lecturers.
  • Improve listening, speaking, reading and writing skills.
  • Participate in extracurricular Chinese Clubs with native speakers.
  • Learn more about Chinese Culture online in our dedicated room.
  • After the second year, students can listen, speak, read and write Chinese at level 5 (6-level Competency Framework); at the same time, through learning activities, students also develop necessary qualities such as: the ability to self-study and exchange information with others.

Third year:

  • Taught by top Vietnamese lecturers.
  • Taught by native speakers.
  • Choose major in Translation and Interpretation or Chinese for Commerce and Tourism and more in-depth training in each major.
  • Participate in extracurricular Chinese Clubs.
  • Learn more about Chinese Culture online in our dedicated room.
  • Experience with leading companies in China, Taiwan.

Fourth year:

  • Taught by top Vietnamese lecturers.
  • Taught by native speakers.
  • Learning about the country and people of China, including knowledge about geography, history, traditional ideology, politics, diplomacy, socio-economics, Chinese customs and practices such as marriage, holidays, costumes, cuisine, etc., helps learners develop the ability to adapt to a multicultural environment.

  • Communicate, exchange and learn directly from domestic and foreign experts.
  • Internship in leading companies in China and Taiwan.
  • Do graduation thesis, practice research skills and present Chinese documents.
