What is Nursing?
Nursing is a profession in the health human resource training system. This is an essential “service” profession, playing an important role in public health care.
Nursing has been developing into a multidisciplinary field of study, with many postgraduate specialties, such as: Pediatric Nursing, Obstetric Nursing, Geriatric Nursing... developing alongside Medicine, Pharmacy, and Public Health.
Along with Medicine and Pharmacy, Nursing is a profession chosen by many young people during each university admission season.
What do nursing students learn?
According to the training program issued by the Ministry of Education and Training and the Ministry of Health, the undergraduate Nursing program will last 4 years (8 semesters).
In the first and second years, Nursing students will study basic science subjects mixed with basic medical subjects, such as: Foreign languages, Philosophy, Informatics, Physics - Biophysics, Genetic Biology, Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pathophysiology, Histology, Basic Nursing..... and practice 55 basic Nursing skills in the Skillslab room in small groups on models.
In the third year, students will study theory and practice at the Skillslab in the school and do internships at central hospitals in the skills of Internal Medicine Nursing, Surgical Nursing, Pediatric Nursing, Obstetrics and Gynecology Nursing, Emergency Resuscitation, Infection Control, etc.
Year 4: Continue to study and practice at the hospital the skills of Psychiatric Nursing, Rehabilitation Nursing, Infectious Disease Nursing, Community Nursing, Geriatric Nursing, Traditional Medicine Nursing, Nursing Management and Graduation Internship.

What to do after graduating from Nursing school?
Currently, Vietnam has more than 140,000 nurses/midwives, reaching a ratio of 11.4 nurses/10,000 people, much lower than the world average. To reach the target of 25 nurses/10,000 people by 2025, ensuring better response to people's healthcare needs, Vietnam needs more than 320,000 nurses/midwives.
In recent years, along with the aging population, the need for daily health care for the elderly has increased rapidly in many countries around the world. The shortage of nurses has led to overload in medical facilities, unable to meet the care needs of patients, so the need for nursing recruitment in Vietnam and around the world is extremely large.

- Directly assess and monitor the health, nutrition, exercise, psychology, etc. of patients every day to make care diagnoses, plan and implement specific care plans for each patient.
- Perform patient care techniques according to the characteristics of each specialty.
- Perform first aid and emergency care when the patient is admitted to the hospital.
- Support patients in movement, exercise and rehabilitation with physical therapy exercises during treatment.
- Health education, dissemination of knowledge on disease prevention and treatment, and community health care.
- Coordinate with doctors in examination, diagnosis and treatment.
- Participate in administrative work, manage books, medical records, equipment, medicine, and medical supplies as assigned.
- Participate in scientific research and innovate care work.
- Participate in teaching nursing students and new nurses.
