Why does Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Kim Tien want all people to participate in blood donation?

According to experts and medical staff, the blood shortage in hospitals is serious, because the number of sick patients is increasing while the number of blood donors is decreasing.
Blood shortage in medical treatment is always a concern for patients and doctors. The amount of blood input and output has begun to have a big difference due to the lack of blood donors. A recent survey at hospitals, including the Central Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, shows that on average, about 700 units of blood are needed each day to treat 600-700 patients, most of whom are seriously ill and need continuous blood transfusions every day. However, it is worrying that since the beginning of the new year, the number of blood donors has decreased by 35%, which means that the amount of blood collected has also decreased significantly.
In order to express the spirit of mutual love and support for patients in difficulty, on March 22 at Dai Nam University, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Dai Nam University organized a humanitarian blood donation festival with the theme "Dai Nam Red Drop 2018". Staff, lecturers and students will join in donating blood, showing their humanity and volunteer spirit, enthusiastically responding and participating in the blood donation festival to save lives, considering it the responsibility and sacred duty of each person. A drop of red blood from Dai Nam teachers and students will bring joy and happiness to the community and help many people overcome difficulties and hardships.
