International scientific seminar of the Faculty of Chinese Language and Culture: Opportunity for students to improve their qualifications, expand their employment, increase international integration and become global citizens

Identifying international training cooperation as a development trend of modern education, helping to improve qualifications and expand job opportunities in the international market for students, especially students majoring in Languages; Dai Nam University constantly expands cooperation, organizes international seminars, and promotes training cooperation with major universities in the world. The scientific seminar "Standards for classifying Chinese language proficiency in international Chinese language training and teaching Chinese in Vietnam" is one of the activities to develop that training program.
The seminar was organized by Dai Nam University in collaboration with the Center for Language Exchange and Cooperation between China and Foreign Countries under the Ministry of Education of China (CLEC).
Attending the program, on behalf of Dai Nam University, there were the Board of Directors, teachers and students of the Faculty of Chinese Language and Culture, representatives of the Departments, Boards and Faculties of the University.
On the guest side, there were: Prof. Vuong Hoc Tung - Beijing Normal University; Prof. Luong Nhan Dan - Beijing Language University; Dr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc - Deputy Head of the Department of Chinese Language, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education; Dr. Ho Minh Quang - Head of the Department of Oriental Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities - VNU-HCM.
The seminar was chaired by Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Hoang Anh - President of the International Association of Chinese Language Teaching in the Asia-Pacific region, professional advisor of the Department of Chinese Language and Culture, Dai Nam University.
Professor Wang Xuesong, Beijing Normal University, shared with teachers and students of Dai Nam University.
Speaking at the seminar, Mr. Dinh Quang Hung - Vice Principal emphasized the importance of teaching and learning Chinese in the period of integration and development of society. At the same time, he affirmed that promoting the joint training program and international cooperation of the Faculty of Chinese Language and Culture is correct and in line with the trend.
Mr. Dinh Quang Hung commented on the importance of international training cooperation programs for the Language industry.
“I believe that the philosophies, principles of compilation, and guidelines for using Chinese language proficiency standards in Chinese language training and teaching in Vietnam discussed by scholars and scientists during the seminar will become documents and evidence to help teachers of the Chinese Language and Culture Department in the process of compiling learning materials…” , Mr. Dinh Quang Hung shared.
At the seminar, scholars presented reports on the following topics: Interpretation of the content and significance of compiling “Chinese proficiency grading standards in international Chinese language training”; Research on the construction and application of the Chinese character table under “Chinese proficiency grading standards in international Chinese language training”; Vocabulary grading framework according to “Chinese proficiency grading standards in international Chinese language training and teaching Chinese vocabulary to Vietnamese learners”; Initial research on Writing for Chinese major students in Vietnam and “Chinese proficiency grading standards in international Chinese language training”.
Through discussion, scholars recommend that Chinese language teaching in Vietnam needs to change to reduce pressure on learners and adapt to new trends. For example, taking advantage of similarities between Chinese and Vietnamese to reduce the knowledge load for students, prioritizing teaching single words with high compounding ability; thereby developing vocabulary, expanding vocabulary; converting simple grammatical phenomena into vocabulary for teaching...
At the seminar, Dr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc - Deputy Head of the Chinese Language Department, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education highly appreciated the joint training and cooperation program of Dai Nam University.
He said: “The facilities, equipment, curriculum and learning materials have been carefully prepared by Dai Nam University, in line with the trend, meeting the needs of learning and teaching. I believe that, along with this thoughtfulness, expanding cooperation and promoting international training links will be an opportunity for students of the Faculty of Chinese Language and Culture, Dai Nam University to improve their qualifications, expand job opportunities, increase international integration and become global citizens”.

Dr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc - Deputy Head of the Chinese Language Department, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education also commented: "Through contact and exchange at the seminar, I found that students of the Chinese Language and Culture Department, Dai Nam University are very intelligent, dynamic, and have solid expertise. This shows that the training and development program of the Chinese Language and Culture Department is going in the right direction."

Concluding the discussion, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Hoang Anh affirmed that the philosophies, principles of compiling and guiding the use of the Chinese Language Proficiency Grading Standards in international Chinese language training reported and discussed at the discussion have important significance for teaching Chinese in Vietnam.
